Legal troubles continue to mount for YouTuber MD Sameer, with a fresh FIR
registered against him at Kadur Police Station in Chikkamagaluru. The
complaint, filed by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) member Manju Jain, accuses
Sameer of making derogatory remarks about Hindu religious sites on social
media.
This comes on the heels of an earlier suo moto case registered at
Dharmasthala Police Station, where Sameer was accused of spreading
misinformation and inciting communal tensions through an AI-generated video.
Despite being summoned for questioning, he failed to appear, increasing the
possibility of arrest.
Sameer sought legal relief by filing an anticipatory bail petition
in the Mangaluru District Sessions Court on August 19. The court granted
interim bail after hearing the matter.
Sameer’s videos have drawn both attention and criticism, with some praising the content while others allege it insults religious sentiments. The Kadur FIR states that his remarks could provoke religious disharmony — a serious offence under Indian law.
